How it works
A short guide to each part of the site, and what to keep in mind when using it.
The wheel
- Pick your faction at the top, Alliance or Horde.
- Press Spin. The big wheel lands on a race and class combination.
- The small wheel then picks a spec for that class. Specs belong to the class, so they don’t depend on the race.
The panel next to the wheel lets you turn races, classes and roles on or off, so you only spin among options you’d enjoy. “No repeats” stops anyone in your group from rolling the same race, class and spec. “Only new-in-Forever” limits the wheel to combinations that are new. You can type a player name before each spin and keep a list of everyone’s picks.
Skyborne needs an upgrade edition of the game, so untick it under Races if your group doesn’t have it. Feral Druid and Enhancement Shaman count as either tank or DPS.
Your filters, picks and names are saved only in your own browser, so they won’t follow you to another device. The Reset button clears them.
The quiz
The quiz asks seven questions: role, solo or group, melee or ranged, pets, challenge level, what sounds fun, and what you’ll do most. Each spec gets a score from my own rough ratings of how solo-friendly, group-friendly, forgiving and strong in PvP it is. Races that guide sites recommend for a class get a small bonus. You see the top three results, each from a different class.
The ratings are my judgment based on beta guides. The quiz is meant to be fun and to point you somewhere, not to give a final answer.
Best combos
This page lists race, class and spec picks for each faction and role, with short reasons and the racial abilities that matter. None of our sources has ranked tank specs yet, so those picks are listed without an order. A “New in Forever” tag marks combinations that are new to this version of the game.
Class guides
There’s a guide for each of the nine classes. They cover how the class plays, how it levels, how it does in PvP, its specs, and the races that suit it. The tier labels follow Gamer Guides’ beta ratings.
How accurate is it?
Everything here is based on the beta, mostly leveling up to level 20 or 30 and PvP, so it leans toward solo play and dungeons rather than raiding. Guides disagree in places, and Blizzard may change classes and races before and after launch. I’ll update the site as things settle. See something wrong? Let me know.
